XSQUADS Art Test ScarFall Hospital

Hospital Environment | Game-Ready

This hospital environment was created as part of an art test for XSquads Games for their project Scarfall 2.0.

The brief was pretty minimal, so most of the decisions around style, proportions, and optimization were up to me. I had about a week for the test, and the full environment came together in around 5 days.

The main focus here was to keep everything clean, readable, and optimized for real-time use, especially for mobile. I tried to stick to a simple look while making sure the structure still felt believable and functional.

What I focused on:
Keeping the scene fully game-ready and optimized
Using a modular approach so assets can be reused easily
Limiting myself to just 3 materials for the entire environment
Creating a trim sheet workflow to maximize texture reuse and efficiency
Creating my own textures to get variation without increasing complexity
Making the building fully accessible/playable
Tools:
Blender (modeling & asset creation)
Substance Painter (texturing & trim sheet creation)
Unreal Engine 5.4 (assembly, lighting, rendering)

This was a fun challenge mainly because of the time and constraint limits—it really pushed me to think more about efficiency instead of just adding more detail.
